Lakewood, OH 44107
The Lakewood Family Room is a daytime gathering place for parents, grandparents, nannies, and caregivers with children aged 0 to 6. Located in the basement of Cove Community Center, the Family Room offers a clean, colorful, and spacious space for kids to play together and for caregivers to meet, become friends, learn new skills, and share experiences. All programs are free to Lakewood residents.
The Family Room offers a variety of supportive services for different stages of parenting and childhood. Read more about the Family Room’s programs and find our program calendar below.
Open drop-in sessions are held throughout the week at different times to accommodate caregivers’ varying schedules. Participants can come to the Family Room where kids can play together with toys and games, read books, and get out of the house.
During the spring, summer, and fall months, some drop-in sessions are held outdoors at Cove Park as long as weather permits.
Do you have a new baby? Then you probably have questions. Whether it is your first or your third, we know that all parents need some extra help. The first hour is reserved for babies under 8 weeks.
We are here to support both mother and child and strive to create a nurturing environment that fosters healthy growth and connection.
Facilitated by Postpartum Doula and Lactation Counselor, Kristen Bindel who creates a comfortable, safe, and judgment free zone.
On select Thursdays throughout the year, Miss Emily brings books to life with music, finger plays, and props. Check our schedule below for specific times and dates.
Grandmother and Early Childhood educator Brenda Nakonecznyj will facilitate this new group for grandparents and their grandchildren. Whether you are just spending a day with the kids or you are the primary childcare provider, Miss Brenda will show you ways to engage your little ones with simple and creative ideas centered around monthly themes and books. You’ll pick up some great ideas that can be recreated at home to make learning fun! Meet other grandparents and make connections to help you along the way.
